Hurricane Melissa has devastated Jamaica, striking as a catastrophic Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 185 mph. Torrential rains—measured in feet, not inches—and a massive storm surge have inundated communities, while flooding and landslides have torn through the mountainous interior. Homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses lie in ruins, and vital roads and bridges have been washed away.
In this moment of urgent need, we are partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to bring help and hope to those suffering. Their relief aircraft—the Samaritan’s Purse 757 and DC-8—are ready to start delivering tons of critical supplies: heavy-duty tarps for shelter, solar lights, hygiene kits, and water filtration systems capable of serving up to 10,000 people a day.
